Glossary

  1. Bonds - encompass all long-term debt issued by federal, provincial and municipal governments, as well as corporate bonds held by individuals and unincorporated businesses. Household holdings of federal government debt instruments (other than Canada Savings Bonds) issued by Canada Investment and Savings are also included in this category, as are bonds held indirectly through fee-based and managed money programs.
  2. Borrower - an age segment that consists of households whose head is under 45 years of age.
  3. Bonds - include Canada and provincial savings bonds, bonds and mortgage-backed securities that are directly held (i.e. not held in managed asset categories or investment funds).
